SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADE ART Art II (Advanced Art) (One Year Course) |
Art II is intended as an advanced art course for students to further develop their skills and experiences with the two‑dimensional mediums, enhance their aesthetic perception, refine their critical vocabulary, and further develop their understanding of our arts heritage. Art I and instructor's permission are prerequisites to this course.
I. ARTISTIC PERCEPTION
To learn the Arts, and enhance and reinforce concepts and ideas in students' subject areas.
II. CREATIVE EXPRESSION
To engage in creative activities that help students achieve personal insight and emotional satisfaction. They are engaging in activities directed toward the refinement and mastery of artistic skills and performance production techniques.
III. HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXT
To gain deeper insights into the role of the Arts in the development of worldwide cultures.
IV. AESTHETIC VALUING-Analysis, Interpretation, Judgment
To use higher‑order thinking skills as students observe unique art interrelationships in art and nature.
V. CONNECTIONS, RELATIONS, APPLICATIONS
1. Identify connections and relationships between visual arts and other arts disciplines.
2. Apply knowledge and skills learned in visual arts to enhance learning outside the arts.
